Involving Parents

We have an open door policy at Rosslyn. The Head and class teachers are always happy to discuss children's progress with parents and answer any queries that may have arisen. Additionally, Mrs Dawes has a Head's drop-in session on Monday afternoons.

We report formally to parents throughout the year. In the autumn and spring terms we offer Parent's Consultation Evenings where parents are invited to view their child's work, discuss progress and set new targets. At the end of the summer term parents receive a detailed written report on their child's progress. Each half term, parents receive a report summary to show their child's progress.

Regular Newsletters are sent out each term to keep parents fully informed of forthcoming events and activities. Class teachers also send information on what the child will be studying in class so that lessons can be supported at home.

We organise regular fundraising events for a variety of charities each year and have raised substantial sums of money both locally and nationally.

11+ Preparation

Specialist teachers are employed to provide tuition during the school day to pupils in Year 5. This is inclusive of fees and gives children practice in verbal and non-verbal reasoning, as well as teaching key skills in mathematics. In addition to this, extra tuition is offered after school where children are taught in small groups.

Lunches

Varied and nutritious lunches are prepared daily on the school premises by our experienced cook. The 'five a day' scheme is incorporated into the menu using fresh fruit and vegetables from our local grocers.

Special diets for vegetarian, medical or religious purposes are available on request.

All children are expected to have a school lunch as this is an integral part of school life.
